Twenty-Five - Death (.016)

It had been almost a week since the cancer had run its course and taken the life of Micah Fisher away from the family that loved him exceedingly. Shirley final words and the request in his living will accompanied the hands that pulled the plug from his life support after the doctor delivered the fateful news of his terminal illness.

The only thing Ellyn could do in a situation like this was watch these events occur in front of her very eyes and provide support when needed. She had never seen a family cry so much.

The widower had made arrangements to have the body be flown to the states to be buried in the town Micah loved dearly. Zoe, the epitome of a broken mess, decided to leave her home country and stay with the Brenton's for a while as she grieved the lost of her employer and her closest friend. It wouldn't have surprised Ellyn if her stay turned permanent.

Ellyn and Faven had the duty of planning a funeral with a two day time span, but one thing was for sure, the guest list wouldn't be an issue. The town was already circulating with sadness. It had affected everyone. Going into a store even had a different aura. There were hardly was a smiling face to brighten up the day anymore. The media had been running rapid with dedications, remembrances and 'tell alls' about the late singer, but what was suppose to bring happiness to his fans only sadden the Brenton household.

There wasn't much communication in the days that lead up to the funeral.

-----------------

"I'm almost ready." Ellyn mumbled through applying her earring and nudging her hair into place. Finally, she turned around to face the man that loved her. Just like everyone else in the family, he was a broken mess. His eyes were drowsy and he was paler than a sheep's back, but he never complained. Now days, Ellyn could barely get a word out of him, or anyone for that matter. There wasn't a single heart in that family that wasn't in a million pieces.

"I just came to say that we will be leaving soon, and we will be staying at mom's house until we all pull ourselves together so you may wanna pack a few things."

Ellyn sighed and nodded at him, and he turned to walk away. Before he could make it out the door, Ellyn grabbed his arm. He stopped and slowly turned to face her with a confused look painted on his face.

"I'm here for you Gabe. You know that? I'm not just a statue watching you hurt, because I know you're hurting. You can talk to me, you know that?"

Gabriel smiled at her and pulled her into an embrace. "I know. I want to thank you for being so patient with me."

She wrapped her arms around him and melted into his chest. It felt good to finally be shown affection in such a dark time. He kissed her collar bone and raised his lips to her ear.

He let her go, allowing her to sign to him again. "I'm so sorry Gabriel. I'm so sorry that you lost your father for the second time. No one deserves this, especially you."

Gabriel let out a sigh. "I still have you." He whispered.

------------------------------

"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

"The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted."

"For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep."

"For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord."

The pastor shut his aging bible, looked onto the family and friends of Micah Fisher and down at the very casket he lay in. Before he spoke, he rested his head on his chest and inhaled a shallow breath.

"We all will gravely miss Micah. He was a man who sought to move many mountains and was successful in doing so. He was a son, a father, a husband and a friend. He was a man of his word and would put a stranger before his own being."

"The day he left town, he came to the church. We spoke about the love of his family and the love of his music. By the end of our conversation, he realized that his family and his music were the same thing. Without it, his family would have never been a family. So decided he would chase the dream and come back. As you can see the dream was much bigger than any of us expected." The crowd chuckled along with the pastor, later continued.

"I hate that I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to my fried, like many of you, but this is our chance now to say goodbye to Micah Fisher. Let us pray."

The group bowed their heads onto their chest. Some let in sighs, while others quieted their sobs. In unison, they prayed.

"The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Amen."

"Viv, what are you doing here?"

"I'm sorry Zae. Ayona told me what happened and I just had to pay my respects to your father. I can leave if you don’t want me—"

"No, no. You're fine. Thank you for coming." Isaiah let off a weak smile at the woman he use to love and still somewhat did.  He felt his blood go warm at the sight of her. There was no doubt that he missed her, but sometimes missing people isn't enough. There was an silence pause in their already small conversation.

"I'm so sorry Isaiah. I knew how much you loved your dad despite what he did to you." Vivianne let out a sigh before she continued. "I know we aren't together right now, but if you need anything, you can call me. No hard feelings?"

Vivianne stuck out her hand to receive a peaceful hand shake, but Isaiah had other plans. He quickly pulled her into a soft embrace. It didn't last very long, but the two knew it was the perfect icing on the cake.

He let her go and spoke again. "Hey um, my mom cooked and a few friends were coming over after this, did you want to come?"

Vivianne nodded in approval. "I would like that. A lot."

"Ok, well, I'll see you there." Isaiah walked away and merged into the group of people leaving the grave site. Viviane bit down on her deep red lip as she watched the man she was so madly in love with walk away. There was a warming joy in her heart that she knew even though he was walking away, she would see him soon, but the love in her heart was slowly replaced by anger when the blonde woman locked eyes with her for the second time. She replaced her frown with a devilish smirk when she thought of her meeting the night before.
-------------------

"So I'm taking my reason for being here as a yes to our agreement?"

The man lowered his empty glass of Bourbon onto the desk and looked up at the woman in the door frame, whose presence alone drove him to drinking. Vaughn knew this was the only was to get his life back to the way it was. His star act and the love of his life had gone AWOL and both his business and his personal life were suffering a great deal. From the moment he took her in and touched her for the first time, he knew, he could no longer breath on the earth if she wasn't his. So, he had no choice but to make a deal with the devil. He gave her a dry nod.

"Very well then. Give me a week and you'll have everything you need to get her back. You must follow my every instruction or the deal is off. Understood?"

"Yeah. Understood."

"Perfect." Viviane turned to walk away, but his voice halted her.

"What was you reason?" Not that he cared, but Vaughn wanted to push a few buttons.

"Excuse me?"

"What was your reason for coming to me with this plan in the first place?"

Viviane looked down at her feet and whipped her head back as a soft laugh escaped from her red lips. She turned to walk to the door, shaking her head, but she stopped and turned her head slightly. "I want her out of my life an into yours. Simple as that. You'll hear from me in a week."

Whoop! Glad I got this out.
The next chapter is fully written and full of emotion!
And if you didn't know.. this is the halfway point!
Thank you all for going 25 chapters strong with me, and without the readers, GF prolly would have stopped at chapter 13. xD
Once college starts in the fall, I might have to put the story on semester long hiatus. :(
I mean I'm a incoming freshmen so I must stay focus!
Hopefully y'all are patient with me if that happens, but trust me, if i can sneak in a chapter, I defiantly will!
Ok, enough rambling..
Be looking out for the next chapter in August.
Love you all!

  1. Wow oddly enough the funeral was emotional. Maybe it was because I feel bad for the family and not so much Micah. I think what he did was really vile! To abandon them then pop back up with a "surprise I'm dying let's be friends!" just wrong!

Vaughn and Viviane...I really fear what's to come for Ellyn and the family.

  2. I felt terrible for his family, still no love loss for Micah. It was beautiful and touching. Great job.

Damn evil Viviane, she just won't stop. Will she truly be happy knowing that she is causing pain not only to Ellyn but also to Gabe and think with that will do to his brother. If she succeeds I hope it comes back to bite her in the ass in a major way. She wants Isiah back, but doing this is going to just put an end to everything. That family, all of them love Ellyn.

  3. I knew her showing us wasn't anything good and it is boiling my blood that she showed up to "pay her respects" but is plotting behind their backs. If she only knew the strength of the bond between Ellyn and Zae, she'd know that this is not the way to get him back and that her plan would fail!

I wonder how Vaughn is going to take news of the baby. He strikes me as the "who cares" type.

  4. ~ That was a touching send off for the broken people he left behind for the second time!
~ You showed them all dealing with it in their own different ways,I can see why the whole family is going home,to stay at the homestead to give each other support!
~ Evil V is back, with vengeance in her sights!
~ ~ And who is the devil, how can Vaughn say that when they are one & the same in their own different ways, they will wreck an already broken family with what ever evil scheme they have come up with!(Or I should say Evil V came up with!)
~ Loved it & will wait as long as it takes to read more, you just concentrate on your Studies & getting good grades!Read you later!(",)
